Delete your PGkaro data
This page explains how to ask PGkaro to delete your personal data, what gets removed, what we are required by law to keep, and how long it takes. It is also the address we give to Meta (WhatsApp and Facebook) as our data deletion instructions URL.
Who can ask
- Tenants and residents — anyone who booked a bed, moved in, or received bills or rent reminders from us.
- PG owners — anyone who claimed, created or managed a PG on PGkaro.
- Guests — visitors who only left a name, mobile number or email to ask about a visit, a price or a listing.
You do not need an active login to ask. A guest who never signed up can still request removal of the enquiry details they left us.
How to ask
- Email us at support@pgkaro.com from the email you gave us, or from any address and simply state the mobile number on your PGkaro record. Say "delete my data".
- In the app — if your account screen shows a Settings → Delete account option, use it; it sends the same request to our support team. Where that option is not yet on your screen, the email above does exactly the same thing and we will confirm it back to you.
- On WhatsApp — replying STOP to any PGkaro message immediately stops all further PGkaro messages to that number. STOP stops messages; it does not by itself delete your account, so add "delete my data" if you want the record removed too.
Tell us which you are (tenant, owner or guest) and, for owners, the PG name, so we find the right record quickly.
What we delete
- Your profile — name, mobile number, email, login, role and preferences.
- Your ID / KYC documents — the identity documents you or your owner uploaded, and the review notes attached to them.
- Your messages log — the WhatsApp, SMS and email history between you and PGkaro, plus marketing consent records.
- Your enquiry and visit details — the name and number you sent to a PG for a visit or price, and any saved or shortlisted listings.
If a PG owner holds your stay records separately, we tell them your request so they can delete their copy too.
What we must keep
Some records cannot be erased on request because the law and our accounting duties require them:
- Payment receipts and invoices — rent, deposit, booking-fee, subscription and boost receipts, kept for the period Indian accounting and tax law requires (usually 8 years). These are kept in a locked finance record and are not used for marketing or shown publicly.
- Statutory and dispute records — police-verification paperwork and anything needed for an open dispute or complaint, kept only until that duty ends.
Everything outside that list is removed.
How long it takes
We complete deletion within 30 days of your request and confirm it to you by email or WhatsApp. Backups are cleared on our normal rotation after that.
If you only want the messages to stop
You do not have to delete your account to be left alone. Reply STOP on WhatsApp, or write to support@pgkaro.com and ask us to stop messaging you. That is honoured straight away and does not cancel a stay or a booking you already have.
